Hello! my name is Doug Troock, the founder of Doug's Woodcrafts & Patterns.  I would like to take a few minutes and tell you a bit about myself and Doug's Woodcrafts & Patterns.

I was born, raised, educated and have lived all my life in Edmonton, Alberta.  I have been married to my lovely wife Muriel for 63 years, we have four children who together with their spouses have rewarded us with eleven Grandchildren and five Great Grandsons and three Great Grand Daughters.  I was employed for 40 years in every aspect, from practical experience to management in the furniture industry.

In 1988, I retired and that's when Doug's Woodcrafts & Patterns became a reality.  Soon after my retirement, my daughter who had been living in Conneticut returned with her family to Alberta.  She brought with her an unfinished wooden planter that was in the form of a "Swan".  She asked me to make her a matching planter and paint the two of them for her.   To satisfy everyone in the family I made a total of twelve.

The family thought the planters were great and that I should try something else. Some of the other projects I tried were whirligigs, yard signs and other planters.

I soon learned that there were firms who were producing woodcraft patterns and had them for sale.  I contacted these firms, associated myself with them, and became an authorized dealer for America's leading full size pattern makers.  I now have the largest inventory of woodcrafting patterns in western Canada.
